An tSlí Ghlas : The Green Way
A new initiative to create a Green economic business corridor in the north Dublin area was presented yesterday to Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
An tSli Ghlas: the Green Way is a major collaborative idea pitched as creating a Green economic corridor linking Dublin airport to the centre of the city. This corridor is aimed at becoming the “silicon valley” of green businesses and CleanTech in Dublin.
The idea was developed by a panel of major stakeholders in the Dublin north and I underlined by the following key driving factors:
• The relocation of DIT campuses to a single site at Grangegorman .
• Social, economic and environmental regeneration of the Ballymun area.
• A large amount of undeveloped land in close proximity to Dublin airport .
• Existing green businesses in the designated area.
• Strong academic links.
The success of this project relies mainly on the development of the proposed Metro North Line and to a slightly lesser extent; the development of the Grangegorman campus.
The idea is presented in more detail in the following video: http://vimeo.com/11327535 and more details about this project can be found on its website: www.thegreenway.ie.
